Dice and dice games date back to the Crusades, but current craps is approximately a century old. Modern craps come about from the old Anglo game called Hazard. No one knows for sure the origin of the game, although Hazard is believed to have been invented by the Anglo, Sir William of Tyre, sometime in the 12th century. Early French colonizers brought the game Hazard to Nova Scotia. In the 1700s, when displaced by the English, the French moved down south and located refuge in southern Louisiana where they after a while became known as Cajuns. When they departed Acadia, they took their preferred game, Hazard, along. The Cajuns simplified the game and made it more mathematically fair.
